Where does the Festival perform?
Santa Fe concerts take place in the intimate, historic St. Francis Auditorium at the New Mexico Museum of Art, and The Lensic Performing Arts Center. Albuquerque concerts take place at Simms Auditorium at Albuquerque Academy.
What should I wear?
There is no dress code. Anything that makes you feel comfortable is fine. Santa Fe is a casual town. Most people wear business clothes or slightly dressy casual clothes, but you’ll see everything from cowboy boots to cocktail dresses. Please be mindful of jewelry and accessories that make noise as this can be distracting to other patrons during the performance.
We urge you to refrain from using any scented personal products whenever you are attending the Festival concerts. Please keep in mind that our patrons’ comfort and health may be compromised by the presence of scents in our environment.
When should I arrive?
Check your tickets carefully for concert time and venue information. When coming to a concert, please remember that traffic, parking, and weather can affect your arrival time, so leave early to make sure you’re not late. We suggest that you arrive 30 minutes before the scheduled start time. This will allow time to find your seat, relax, and socialize before the concerts begin.
What if I arrive late?
In the interest of all patrons and performers, and to minimize any distractions, latecomers and those exiting a performance in progress will be admitted to the performance at the appropriate interval as determined by Festival staff.
The Festival assumes no responsibility for portions of any concert missed due to lateness and cannot make any adjustment in the ticket price.
How long is a typical performance?
Performance length varies but typically most evening concerts last approximately two hours, and include an intermission. Our Noon and Saturday evening concerts last approximately one hour and do not have an intermission. Please contact the Festival ticket office for more specific information.
When do I applaud?
Most artists appreciate applause at any time during a performance. Until the late nineteenth century and even into the twentieth century, it was customary for audiences to applaud at the end of every section of a given piece, and some movements were even given an immediate encore if the applause was great enough.
Modern audiences, however, tend to wait until the end of an entire piece to clap. This is considered to be respectful to the performers’ concentration and mindful of musical continuity.
If you are unsure about when you should applaud, a good rule of thumb is to follow the lead of other audience members.
What if I need to cough?
Everyone gets the urge to cough now and then. The less worried you are about coughing, the less likely you are to feel the urge! So chances are you’ll feel less need to cough if you are prepared.
If you have a cold take some cough medicine in advance and bring unwrapped lozenges with you. Have a few handy when the music begins.
Try to ‘bury’ your cough in a loud passage of music. If this is impossible and you begin to cough a lot, it’s perfectly acceptable and appropriate to quietly exit the concert hall. The ushers will tell you when you are able to re-enter the concert.
I have a disability
Patrons needing wheelchair seating, accommodations for guide dogs or walkers, large print program notes, or other assistance are asked to notify the ticket office when ordering tickets.
Can I take photographs?
Cameras and all other recording devices are not permitted in the auditorium.
What about cellular phones?
Take a break from the outside world. Please be sure to turn off your cell phones, pagers, and all other audible electronic devices (including watch alarms) before the concert begins.
Can I bring my children?
Children five years of age and older may attend any concert with tickets purchased for them. However, Festival concerts are more suited for children age 10 or older.
The Festival offers a FREE Youth Concert Series designed especially for audience members up to 12 years of age.
What if there is bad weather on a concert date?
Summer is monsoon season in New Mexico. The Santa Fe Chamber Music Festival is committed to honoring its concert schedule, and performances proceed on time despite weather conditions and traffic delays.
The Festival regrets that tickets not used due to inclement weather or traffic delays cannot be refunded, exchanged, or returned for a tax receipt.
I’ve lost or misplaced my tickets, what do I do?
If you lose or misplace your tickets – no problem – simply call the Ticket Office to arrange for replacement tickets free!

If I can’t attend the concert I have chosen may I exchange?
The Festival permits ticket exchanges for most concerts up to 48 hours prior to the concert date. This service is free to subscribers and costs $8 per ticket for individual ticket buyers.
Are all sales final?
All individual concert ticket sales (non-subscription) are final. There are no refunds or cancellations. In the case of an exchange, a fee of $8 per ticket will apply for non-subscribers. All artists, performances, dates and prices are subject to change without notice. If you can’t attend – your tax deductible ticket donation
If you are unable to attend a performance, please consider making a tax deductible donation by returning your tickets to the Festival. Prior to the performance you may donate them in person at the Festival ticket office or via email to info@sfcmf.org. When emailing, please include the name of the person who purchased the tickets, the date and time of performance, the number of seats to be donated (and the seat numbers, if possible), and the order number, if possible. The Festival cannot accept donated tickets via phone calls. We appreciate receiving your ticket donation as soon as possible to help increase our chance of re-selling the tickets. You’ll receive a receipt for tax purposes, and you’ll give other music lovers an opportunity to hear the Santa Fe Chamber Music Festival and its stellar artists in live performance.
Please note: Once you donate a ticket, your donation is final, and the ticket is instantly made available for resale. Donated tickets cannot be returned, refunded, or used by you.
