One of Marc Neikrug’s top priorities when he became the Festival’s Artistic Director in 1998 was to expand and further develop our music education programs, which today serve students in pre-K and grades K–12 throughout northern New Mexico and include such wide-ranging offerings as Music in Our Schools, Strings in Our Schools, Guitar in Our Schools, the Dream Big Private Lesson Program, and Youth Concerts.
At the Festival, we passionately believe in the ability of music to change lives for the better and provide a bright future for all children. In that spirit, we hope you enjoy this brief video, which celebrates the success of our music education programs over the years. The video has a special focus on Music in Our Schools, which was established in 1997.
We’d also like to share these wonderful photos from last November, which show Music in Our Schools students at Santa Fe’s Nina Otero Community School listening to a live performance of music from string quartets by Franz Joseph Haydn and Alexander Borodin.

Thank you, as always, to everyone who supports our music education programs and helps us make a difference in the lives of so many students in Santa Fe and northern New Mexico.
