Firmly established as one of America’s outstanding flutists, Joshua Smith is principal flute of the Cleveland Orchestra and is equally at home as soloist, chamber musician, and educator. In the fall of 2014 he was featured as soloist on the Cleveland Orchestra’s European tour, performing Jörg Widmann’s Flute Concerto, which was commissioned for him by the orchestra. He received a 2010 Grammy nomination for best chamber music performance for his Telarc recording Air. His discs dedicated to the works of J.S. Bach include Sonatas for Flute and Continuo and Sonatas for Flute and Harpsichord.
