Joseph Johnson is in his third season as principal cellist of the Toronto Symphony Orchestra, a position he also held with the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra, and principal cellist of the Santa Fe Opera.

Joseph Johnson is in his second season as principal cellist of the Toronto Symphony Orchestra, a position he also held with the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra, and principal cellist of the Santa Fe Opera. He recently completed a three-volume recording project with the G. Schirmer Instrumental Library: The Cello Collection, featuring companion recordings of cello literature appropriate for recitals and contests. A graduate of the Eastman School of Music, he earned his Master’s degree from Northwestern University. He performs on a 1747 Juan Guillami cello, crafted in Barcelona.
